What is MP3?

MP3 or MPEG Layer III is a format for digitally saving audio data. The human ear can by default not process all the data present on an audio CD, thus MP3 files are being generated from an audio CD that are much smaller than the original by compression and filtering. The differences in quality from MP3 files to the files on audio CD are hardly discernable.
